Get involved in the Bicentenary weekend by registering an activity today or take a look at some of the activities that have already been registered as part of the activity program for inspiration.

Registered Activities

Businesses, community groups, musicians and organisations alongside Maitland City Council have put together a range of activities to help commemorate the Bicentenary of Morpeth on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November 2022.

Watch the Dragon Boat races from Queens Wharf to Morpeth Bridge. Onlookers will be invited to participate in races.

Morpeth Museum is contributing by staging an heritage walks on  Saturday 13 and 20 November at 10.00am and 1.00pm. The walks will be free but must be pre-booked.

Lasting around an hour, the escorted walking tour will take in the original Government landing (Queens Wharf), the history of the town via its buildings along the main street (Swan Street) and ends on the river bank near the Morpeth Bridge.

The walk concentrates on the unseen history of the town via stories of the first purchasers of the initial subdivision in 1834.

Maitland City Motor Association will be displaying a range of historic and classic vehicles and motorcycles dating from 1910’s to 1990’s over the Bicentenary weekend. 

In addition, a selection of military vehicles will be included. 

MCMA has extensive experience in displaying club vehicles on a regular basis since 1992 at some of Maitland City Council’s other flagship events including Hunter Valley Steamfest and Australia Day.

Visit Closeborurne House for some light entertainment, refreshments and fete stalls and sausage sizzle, as well as a period costume and photograph display.
